Zotero Integration

Apex Scholar can connect to your Zotero library to import references directly into your Resource Library.

Connecting Zotero

  1. Go to SettingsIntegrations
  2. Click Connect to Zotero
  3. Authorize Apex Scholar in the Zotero popup
  4. Once connected, your Zotero collections will be available for import

Importing References

  1. Navigate to Resources (Resource Library)
  2. Click the Import button
  3. Select From Zotero
  4. Choose the collections you want to import
  5. Click Import

Your references will be added to your library with metadata and links.

Managing Connection

In SettingsIntegrations you can:

  • View connection status
  • Disconnect Zotero (revokes access)
  • Reconnect if needed

Notes

  • Only metadata and links are imported; PDFs remain in Zotero unless you manually upload them to Apex Scholar
  • Imports are incremental: previously imported items are skipped on subsequent imports
  • Large libraries may take a moment to sync

Zotero API Key

Apex Scholar uses OAuth to connect to Zotero. No API key is required from you—just authorize the app.

Troubleshooting

  • If the connection fails, ensure you are logged into Zotero and pop-ups are not blocked
  • Check that your Zotero library is not private or restricted
  • Try disconnecting and reconnecting
